I don’t know if they’re still alive, but I definitely think there’s more to it than “oh they died in a mine accident.” I’m finding that in the Hunger Games, accidents don’t exist. Maybe Mr. Everdeen and Mr. Hawthorne had to escape, though, like Bonnie and Twill

I disagree with accidents not existing in the Hunger Games because Peeta accidently killed Foxface by accidently picking poisonous berries. And if Katniss and Gales fathers were trying to escape, wouldn’t they’ve taken their families with them?

Haha! I put this in the last one! hahaha! Okay, so, like last week, I think that their dads are definitely still alive. Now, I know it seems like they just abandoned their families, but if the revolution was planned then taking the families would have been impossible. They probably, along with maybe some other trust worthy miners, went to 13 to help with the rebels. They had to keep their families there so that Katniss could participate in the hunger games, and so that Gale and Hazelle could help with the rebellion in 12.

YES YES YES! I don’t think the revolution was planned! But i defiantly think there Dads are still alive! I Don’t think they could take there families with them. I also think the reason Katniss’s Mom was in such a shock is because she knew all along what was going to happen!

omg!! i think the dads are dead since they weren’t important but i think Gale is still alive since he is the third most important character. But i think in the end Gale is gonna die when he trys to save Katniss because he loves her so much. I luv peeta more than gale but i luv him too.I just wish gale doesn’t die but marries another girl who he finds to be his true love .Katniss was just out of jealousey. He suppose to be really hot so it would be really easy for him to find a girlfriend who luvs him. I would have said prim for gale but shes way too young.I hope that Katniss’s dad is alive because its possible. He probably like bonnie and twill were late for they’re job and wuz walking there when suddenly the blast happened. He didnt want to be a burden on his family so he went to district 13 and found the underground city. Katniss is going to find her dad and live happily ever after– of course thats not gonna happen.

But still i hope…… won’t find out until Mockingjay comes out…

WAY to hard to answer. But I do agree with District 13′s first part, that there was probably more to it. I think we’ll hear more about it in Mockingjay. *HOPEFULLY* Gale mentioned something about the mines and how secrets passed around easily so maybe that was still going on back then before Kat’s dad and Gale’s dad. So the capitol had to do something about it *cough* Like blowing them to bits for example.

I think it would be an awesome twist if their dads were really alive, however, i don’t really think that katniss’ dad would have planned on her participation in the games, that just seems a little too dangerous for a father to make their child go through.

Im not sure. Not everything is as it seems in the world of Suzanne Collins. She might have done this, or even spookier, made them advisors of Prez. Snow. But you never know with Suzanne Collins

I wouldn’t be surprised if they were still alive. The mines would probably be a great place to talk about rebellion, and Gale might have gotten his disdain for the Capitol from his dad.
Maybe they’re Avoxes, or they could very well be in District 13 if they escaped.

i guess i really never thought about it but i think a really big twist would be if some male character turns out to be her father such as hamich

Haymitch can’t be Katniss’ Dad because she new her dad do you remember her Dad taught her how to hunt!

I’m not going to shoot down the idea, but I think it’s unlikely. If they were part of a secret organization, then they were probably killed by the Capital in what the Capital made look like an accident.

But, who knows? There are possibilities.

i think katniss’s dad is hiding with a group of people who supposedly died from the mine explosion and these people are planning to go against the capitol( just like everybody else).

I think that katniss and gales fathers did survive because I’m sure about gales father but katniss stated in the first book that there “wasn’t even anything to bury”. They mightn’t even blown up the mine ON PURPOSE after they were all out to fabricate it and hide their escape. They probably knew that almost the whole District would be there so PERFECT escape time. I don’t think they could bring their families with them however because that would be WAY too many people to hide in the smoke and the woods. Plus it never said in the book that they were dead. Just said her father and gales father.
