Hunger Games Movie Director News

The next big film directing job in Hollywood will be decided late next week,. That’s when Lionsgate chooses a filmmaker for The Hunger Games, the first installment of a trilogy based on the Suzanne Collins novel series that many feel could be the next Twilight. I’m told that Lionsgate has gotten Billy Ray’s rewrite, and will meet with three elite directors next week before making a decision. Gary Ross, Sam Mendes and David Slade  have emerged as the favorites. The script has become one of those closely guarded documents which do not leave the production company’s headquarters. I’ve also heard Andrew Adamson’s name in the mix, but it appears to be down to the three I mentioned.

If David Slade directs, we will be incredibly lucky. He directed Eclipse and we all know how beautifully that came out. :)

Yeah, I agree with Laura. David Slade would do the best job!

i dont know these guys…… but i would so die of happiness if andrew adamson directed it!!!! =D

Sam Mendes for sure. He’s directed some really great films i.e. American Beauty and Road to Perdition. David Slade isn’t bad and I wouldn’t necessarily be disappointed if he is chosen, but I feel that Mendes is the superior director. Gary Ross…just no.

a lot of ppl dont want david slade just cuz he did eclipse. maybe he didnt do the greatest job in eclipse, but his previous movies, i thought were really good. just cuz he directed one bad movie, doesnt mean you can judge him ONLY by that movie.

I am not a Twilight fan, in fact I pretty much detest Twilight, but my cousin is a HUGE Twilight fan and she made me watch all three movies. The first two were so terrible, they were almost painful to watch. I know a lot about how to tell bad directing from good directing, and also bad acting from good acting, because I’ve been in film school for three years now. I didn’t even want to see Eclipse, but my cousing dragged me to it. … Let me tell you something. I really, really liked it. I’ve seen it twice now. The story was pretty good, the actors (mainy Edward and Bella) seriously kicked up their acting (which was TERRIBLE in the first two films), and the directing was AMAZING. Seriously. David Slade is, and has been for a while, one of my top choices for the Hunger Games movie.

Also, David Slade did a fantastic job when he directed “Hard Candy.” That film is absolutely incredible, and the credit for that goes to Slade. Slade’s “30 Days of Night” was also amazing. If you haven’t seen that one yet, do.

So… my pick would be David Slade. :)

I was just on imdb and the hunger games is listed as in development on Gary Ross’s page

David Slade pretty please!! HE can do a violent job!! I loved 30 days of night and though i would die if there were noticeable twilight crossovers (as much a twi-hard as i am)HG is tooooootally off that area. He can do it. Eclipse looked amazing, but this time he can make the fight scene as long as he wants!!
